For at least a few days after surgery, your eyes may be sore, vision may be blurred, and you will be under lifting, bending, and driving restrictions. 

Plan to take a couple of days off from work (at least) in order to recover from your cataract surgery. If you work an office job or a desk job, a few days will likely be all that you need to recover and get back to work (with limitations preventing you from bending too far or from lifting too much which could put strain on your eye and facial muscles). On the other hand, if you work a job that requires a great deal of physical effort, you may need more time off in order to be back at full working strength.

Get Your House Ready And Plan Household Tasks

Because of bending and lifting restrictions that could last for weeks or even for several months, your house needs to be prepared to be more accommodating. This is especially important if you live alone. Any items that you need on a regular basis like soap, tissues, clothing, toilet paper, and the like should all be moved up to a level that is easy for you to reach without bending.

Another factor to consider is if you have pets. Feeding a dog or cat, giving them water, and cleaning out a litter box will all be extremely difficult when you have lifting and bending restrictions. Make sure you have a plan for these tasks. Hire a pet-sitting or pet care service to come in a few times a day to help you with the pet care tasks that you cannot perform with your post-surgery restrictions.
